Our CSR Effort To Spur The Next Generation of IT Talents

At Originally US, we hold firm the belief that to produce deliverables that well-designed, scaleable for the future, robust and secure, we first need to establish a strong design and engineering team consisting of very talented individuals.

While many of our competitors focus on employing an ever increasing number of developers and designers, without necessarily paying attention to their capabilities and skill level, we focus on identifying and attracting top Information Technology talents in Singapore and Vietnam to join our ranks.

At the same time, our Managing Director, Calixto Tay, is a Summa Cum Laude (Highest Distinction) graduate from Singapore Management University’s School (SMU) of Computing & Information System. Calixto benefited greatly from scholarships and awards established by various donors and sponsors as an undergraduate to be able to afford a laptop for his coursework and fund his overseas exchange experiences. To this end, Calixto has always believed in the notion of paying it forward. Since 2015, Calixto Tay has served as a Entrepreneurship mentor at SMU’s Startup Incubator.

Combining the company’s desire to identify and motivate talents in the Information Technology space, as well as to fulfil Calixto’s desire of paying it forward, we worked with Singapore Management University to establish and sponsor the “Originally US Award for Top Third Year Information Systems Student”.

This is a 3 year award that will run from 2020 to 2022, with the award given to top student of the cohort year.

Update: We have established a new award in 2023, “Originally US Future Information Technology Leaders Award”. For more details, click on this link.

We hope that award recipients will continue to develop and grow in the Information Technology space, and eventually follow Calixto’s footstep of giving back to the University and its students after they graduate.
